India, Oct. 19 -- CARE said on Oct. 15, 2026 it received a $1.25 million donation from legal scholar Bruce Ackerman to support its humanitarian work in Gaza, describing the gift as the entirety of the prize money he received as a recipient of the Tang Prize in Rule of Law.

CARE said the $1.25 million gift will support humanitarian relief for Palestinians facing “extreme hunger, displacement, and a decimated health system.” The organization said Ackerman is Sterling Professor of Law and Political Science at Yale University and the author of 19 books on political philosophy, constitutional law, and public policy.
