India, July 22 -- Amnesty International has urged Mozambican authorities to conduct an independent and transparent investigation into the fatal police shooting of Narciso Castigo Sambo, also known as Macovo, after a video circulated on social media appeared to show him being shot after he had already been restrained by officers.

Video prompts calls for accountability According to Amnesty International, the incident took place on July 18 in Xinavane district of Maputo province during an operation by the Police's Rapid Intervention Unit.
