India, Sept. 17 -- Years of conflict and displacement have left Al-Qusayr in western Homs struggling with damaged infrastructure, limited services and scarce livelihood opportunities, while returning families add pressure to already stretched resources. The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) has launched an integrated recovery response combining water, sanitation, shelter, protection and cash assistance.
Water and sanitation restored
The intervention rehabilitated a drinking water borehole and installed a solar-powered pumping system, restoring reliable access to safe water for about 10,000 people. The solar system also reduces dependence on fuel and an unreliable electricity grid.
