India, Aug. 12 -- A powerful 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck western Colombia on August 10, leaving communities facing deaths, injuries, damaged buildings and growing uncertainty as aftershocks continued to raise fears. CARE Colombia said the full scale of humanitarian needs was still emerging as search and rescue operations continued.
Epicentre Near Choco
The earthquake was centred near San Jose del Palmar in the western department of Choco, with tremors felt across large parts of the country, including Bogota. Significant impacts were reported in Pereira, Quibdo, Cali and Manizales, where buildings and critical infrastructure were damaged.
