New Delhi, Aug. 19 -- External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar extended a warm welcome to Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and his delegation in New Delhi marking the start of the 24th round of talks between the Special Representatives of India and China. This is the first visit by a Chinese Minister to India since the meeting of both countries' leaders in Kazan in October 2024.
In his opening remarks, EAM underlined that the visit offered an opportunity to review bilateral ties and exchange views on the global situation as well as matters of mutual concern. Stressing the need to overcome the "difficult period" in relations, he emphasized that "moving ahead requires a candid and constructive approach from both sides."
