New Delhi, Aug. 7 -- Responding to the US announcement of storing additional tarrifs on India, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs has issued a strong statement calling it unfair.

In an official statement released on August 6 2025, the Ministry of External Affairs reiterated that India's energy imports are driven by market factors and aimed at securing the energy needs of its 1.4 billion citizens.

"It is extremely unfortunate that the US should choose to impose additional tariffs on India for actions that several other countries are also taking in their own national interest," the statement noted.
