New Delhi, May 2 -- The Indian Navy has received Mahendragiri, the sixth ship of the Project 17A Nilgiri-class stealth frigates. The vessel, which is the fourth of its class built by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited, was delivered in Mumbai.

Designed by the Warship Design Bureau, the delivery of six Project 17A ships within a span of less than 17 months highlights India's growing capability in indigenous warship construction. The project has been overseen by the Warship Overseeing Team (Mumbai).

Mahendragiri is equipped with state-of-the-art weapons and advanced sensors, significantly enhancing the Indian Navy's operational capabilities across the full spectrum of maritime challenges.
