New Delhi, Nov. 3 -- A political debate started after Congress leader Jairam Ramesh criticised the Delhi Government's winter cloud seeding experiment, calling it an "expensive headline-grabbing measure" that lacks scientific basis.

Ramesh, citing parliamentary replies and a recent report by IIT Delhi's Centre for Atmospheric Sciences, claimed that multiple expert agencies - including the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM), Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), and Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) - had advised against the initiative. He described the Rs.34 crore project as an ineffective effort that offers only "slight improvement in a limited area for a day or two."
