New Delhi, Aug. 12 -- The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has strongly criticised remarks reportedly made by the Pakistani Chief of Army Staff during a visit to the United States, calling them an example of Pakistan's "nuclear sabre-rattling."

In its statement, the MEA said the international community can judge for itself the irresponsibility of such comments, which further reinforce doubts about the integrity of nuclear command and control in a state "where the military is hand-in-glove with terrorist groups."

The ministry expressed regret that the remarks were made "from the soil of a friendly third country" and reaffirmed India's stance that it will not succumb to nuclear blackmail.
