New Delhi, March 30 -- Secretary (South) Dr. Neena Malhotra co-chaired the 7th Foreign Office Consultations between India and Algeria with Secretary General Mr. Lounes Magramane in Algiers.

During the consultations, both sides reviewed the entire spectrum of bilateral relations and explored ways to further strengthen cooperation across multiple sectors. Key areas of discussion included energy, higher education, trade, and people-to-people ties.

Diplomatic relations between India and Algeria were established in July 1962, the year Algeria gained independence from French colonial rule. Since then relations between the two countries have been cordial.
