New Delhi, March 16 -- The Election Commission of India has announced the schedule for the 2026 Legislative Assembly elections in Assam, Kerala, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal, along with by-elections in eight Assembly constituencies across six states. Counting of votes for all elections will take place on May 4, and the entire electoral process will be completed by May 6. With the announcement of the poll schedule, the Model Code of Conduct has come into immediate effect in the concerned states and the Union Territory.
