New Delhi, April 14 -- External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met Manfred Weber, President of the European People's Party and Member of the European Parliament, in New Delhi.

During the meeting, both leaders agreed on the need to sustain the positive momentum in India-EU relations and emphasized early ratification of the India-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA).

On 17 June 2022, the European Union relaunched negotiations with India for a Free Trade Agreement, and launched separate negotiations for an Investment Protection Agreement and an Agreement on Geographical Indications (GIs). Negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement concluded on 27 January 2026.
