New Delhi, May 27 -- Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced that the Delhi Government will now provide free ration benefits to families with an annual income of up to Rs.2.5 lakh.

She said the decision was taken during a Cabinet meeting, where the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) income limit for ration cards was increased from Rs.1.20 lakh to Rs.2.5 lakh to ensure that a larger number of families benefit from the public distribution system.

The Chief Minister also stated that under a new CBDC-based system, ration benefits will directly reach the accounts of beneficiaries, aimed at improving transparency and delivery of welfare assistance.
