Delhi CM Rekha Gupta attends BJP seminar on Emergency on Constitution Murder Day
New Delhi, June 27 -- Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta attended a seminar organised by the Delhi BJP to mark Constitution Murder Day, commemorating the anniversary of the Emergency imposed on June 25, 1975.
Addressing the programme, Gupta described June 25, 1975, as a "dark chapter" in Indian democracy, alleging that the Emergency was imposed by the Congress to safeguard power and the political interests of one family. She said the period witnessed an assault on the spirit of the Constitution, suppression of civil liberties, and attempts to silence democratic voices.
