New Delhi, Aug. 21 -- A Delhi court has remanded to five days' police custody the man accused of attacking Chief Minister Rekha Gupta during a Jan Sunwai at her Civil Lines Camp Office, officials said.
The accused has been identified as Sakriya Rajeshbhai Khimjibhai (41), a resident of Rajkot, Gujarat. He was presented late on Tuesday night before a magistrate at his Dwarka residence, rather than at the Tis Hazari court complex, court sources confirmed.
Police have registered a case under Section 109(1) (attempt to murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against Khimjibhai, along with charges of assault and obstructing a public servant in the discharge of official duty.
