New Delhi, Nov. 5 -- Sanae Takaichi made history by becoming the first female Prime Minister of Japan. Takachi, who hails from the Liberal Democratic Party, succeeds Shigeru Ishibawho tendered his resignation after occupying the office for less than a year. The election debacles suffered by the LDP in two elections during the Prime Ministerial tenure of Shigeru Ishiba, including its loss of majority in the lower house of the Japanese Parliament for the first time in a decade and a half, triggered the leadership change in the party.
