New Delhi, Oct. 10 -- In Nagaon, BJP candidate Devasish Sharma polled 7,14,349 votes, defeating Mohammed Badruddin Ajmal of the All India United Democratic Front by 1,42,224 votes. Ajmal received 5,72,125 votes, while Congress candidate Sibamoni Bora secured 1,29,492 votes.

In West Bengal, BJP candidates Shankharavh Sarkar and Hasi Rani Rath won the Rejinagar and Nandigram Assembly by-elections, respectively.

Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam candidates K. Maragatham Kumaravel and P. Sathyabama won Madurantakam and Dharapuram, respectively, in Tamil Nadu. In Puducherry, All India N.R. Congress candidate Ashok Anand won the Thattanchavady Assembly bypoll.
