New Delhi, Dec. 26 -- On the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday inaugurated Atal Canteens in several parts of the capital, including Nehru Nagar, in the presence of Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.
Calling it the fulfilment of a key promise made in the BJP's election manifesto, Rekha Gupta said the launch marked the beginning of a major welfare initiative for Delhi's working population. In the first phase, 45 Atal Canteens have been started across the city, while 55 more will be opened in the coming days to expand the scheme's reach.
