Who is David Morens? Fauci's former adviser admits to concealing COVID research records
New Delhi, Aug. 19 -- David Morens, a former senior adviser to Anthony Fauci at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), has pleaded guilty to a federal conspiracy charge linked to efforts to conceal government records concerning COVID-19 research and grant funding.
The 78-year-old entered his guilty plea Tuesday in federal court in Greenbelt, Maryland. He is scheduled to be sentenced on November 12 and faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison.
Morens is a physician and scientist who worked for decades in the federal government and became a senior official at NIAID during the COVID-19 pandemic. He also served as a senior adviser to Fauci, who headed the institute for 38 years.
