New Delhi, Oct. 4 -- After just 2.1 overs were able to be bowled, New Zealand and Australia would be hoping for a full match in the third and final T20I on Saturday at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui. Having lost the first game by six wickets, New Zealand looked to level the series on Friday, but persistent rains jeopardised their plans.
The second game was initially shortened to 18 overs per side as New Zealand opted to bowl first. But the start of the match was delayed due to heavy rains. The umpires further reduced the game to nine overs per side. But only 2.1 overs were bowled before the rain gods opened up once again to force the umpires to eventually call off the game.
