New Delhi, April 12 -- The India Meteorological Department (IMD) warned against soaring mercury in the coming days. As per the latest forecast, it is likely that Northwest India may witness a sharp spike in temperature of around 6 to 8 degrees Celsius, while East and Central India may see a 3 to 5 degrees Celsius increase in temperature this week. Temperatures likely to stay above normal in the coming days, IMD said.
"Gradual rise in maximum temperatures likely over Northwest India by 6-8degC; 3-5degC over East India and Central India during the week. As a result, maximum temperatures are likely to be above normal over these region" after 13 April, the weather office said in its weather bulletin dated 11 April.
