Venezuela's interim President honours 'heroes on four legs' for helping locate earthquake victims
New Delhi, July 7 -- Venezuela has recognised hundreds of emergency responders from around the world, including specially trained search-and-rescue dogs, for their role in the aftermath of the deadly earthquakes that struck the country on 24 June.
During a ceremony led by acting President Delcy Rodriguez, medals were presented to rescue personnel and canine teams that participated in search operations following the disaster.
Among those honoured were search-and-rescue dogs from the Los Angeles County Fire Department, whose work helped locate survivors and victims trapped beneath collapsed buildings.
