New Delhi, Oct. 11 -- Convicted murderer Christa Pike, the 50-year-old woman who survived a botched execution attempt in Tennessee last week, was discharged from the hospital and returned to prison on Saturday (local time), her lawyers said.
Pike was administered two doses of pentobarbital on 30 September after the court approved her execution by lethal injection. However, the doses, usually considered fatal, failed to kill her, making her the only inmate ever to survive after being injected with lethal doses of execution drugs, AFP reported, citing the Death Penalty Information Center (DPI).
