TVK rally stampede, Sept. 27 -- Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief and actor-turned-politician Vijay's grand rally in Karur on Saturday evening descended into chaos after severe overcrowding caused a 'stampede-like' situation, leading to several attendees fainting. Many were rushed to hospitals, with the chief ending his speech ahead of schedule.

Some of those who fainted, are feared dead, including a couple of children, mentioned a report by news agency PTI.

Chaotic scenes filled Tamil Nadu's Karur hospitals as people were rushed from the site of the TVK chief's rally.

Amid the chaos, Vijay was also seen calling out the police to help people after it was reported that a child had gone missing in the crowd.
