New Delhi, May 18 -- A gunman killed at least six people and injured eight others in a series of attacks across the city of Tarsus in southern Turkey on Monday (May 18), prompting a large-scale manhunt involving police, helicopters and drones, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said.

Authorities believe the attacker moved through multiple locations during the rampage before fleeing the scene. The suspect remains at large.

President Erdogan confirmed the death toll in a televised statement following a cabinet meeting.

He said six people were killed and eight others wounded, expressing condolences for the victims but providing limited operational details about the ongoing investigation.
