New Delhi, Aug. 23 -- The Trump administration's crackdown on immigrant truck drivers could remove as many as 200,000 drivers from US roads, potentially worsening the country's longstanding truck-driver shortage, critics have warned.

Critics argue that the campaign is being driven less by public safety concerns and more by the administration's broader mass deportation and "America First" agenda.

"This is 'just an immigration raid by any other name,'" said Cassandra Zimmer-Wong, an immigration policy analyst at More in Common, according to USA Today.
