New Delhi, Nov. 5 -- This episode of Leadership Lessons looks at the unglamorous problem sitting under the AI boom: the data itself: where it lives, what it means, how it relates to other data, and whether it can be trusted and safely used by AI.

For two decades, the job with enterprise data was simple. Store it, keep it safe, keep the bills down. That data now lives across the cloud, on-premises servers and dozens of apps, some running for more than 20 years. AI has turned it into raw material for models and, increasingly, for AI agents acting on a company's behalf. Research cited in the conversation puts the failure rate of AI pilots moving into production at anywhere between 50 and 95 per cent.
