New Delhi, Aug. 22 -- The Tamil Film Producers Council and the Tamil Film Active Producers Association have announced a halt on the release of new Tamil films from 1 September, with shooting and post-production work also set to be stopped amid an escalating industry dispute.

The decision follows a disagreement over measures reportedly adopted by the Tamil Nadu Theatre Distributors Association and the Theatre Owners Association. According to the producers' joint statement, the two associations have decided that, from 1 September, new Tamil films should arrive on OTT platforms only after completing eight weeks of theatrical release.
