New Delhi, Sept. 15 -- Dutch AI chipmaker Euclyd has secured backing from Samsung in a $231 million funding round, amid a boom in venture funding in alternatives to Nvidia's dominance in graphics processing units (GPUs), according to a CNBC report.

The 200-million-euro Series A round was co-led by Samsung, Somerset Capital Partners, Innovation Industries, and the EQT-managed Scaleup Europe Fund, CEO Bernardo Kastrup told CNBC.

Launched in 2024, Euclyd is developing specialised chip systems for AI inference, featuring an alternative processor and memory architecture distinct from traditional graphics processing units.
