New Delhi, May 22 -- John F. Kennedy, born in Brookline, Massachusetts, in 1917, became the 35th President of the United States and one of the defining political figures of the 20th century. Before entering politics, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and later represented Massachusetts in the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate.
In 1960, he won the presidency after campaigning on the promise of a "New Frontier," calling Americans toward national renewal, public service and global leadership. The John F. Kennedy Presidential Library notes that his presidency was shaped by long working days, wide reading and a strong focus on informed decision-making.
