New Delhi, Dec. 2 -- Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday (December 2) warned that while Moscow does not seek a war with European powers, it is fully prepared to fight if one is forced upon it.

Speaking amid ongoing diplomatic efforts to negotiate a settlement to the war in Ukraine, Putin said that several European proposals for peace were "absolutely unacceptable" to Russia.

"We do not want a war with Europe," he said, "but if Europe wants a war, Russia is ready right now," said Putin.

His comments come as Western governments push for conditions that ensure Ukraine's sovereignty and future security, while Moscow insists on guarantees that align with its strategic interests.
