New Delhi, Sept. 3 -- The Centre has refused to disclose, under the Right to Information (RTI), how much it costs to run a Parliament session or how much of taxpayers' money is lost when Parliament loses sitting hours due to disruptions.

An RTI filed by Mint on August 13 with the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs asked: "What was the total money lost/wasted due to disruption/loss of sitting time in each of the last 10 Rajya Sabha sessions?"

The Rajya Sabha Secretariat replied on September 2, saying, "The information sought does not constitute 'information' under Section 2(f) of the RTI Act, 2005."
