New Delhi, Aug. 18 -- My friend bought an expensive TV recently. On paper, it was exactly the kind of television most people would be happy to own. He had researched it, compared brands and spent enough money to convince himself he couldn't go wrong. Then the TV was installed and within minutes, he regretted the purchase.
The TV wasn't defective. The picture was actually very good. The problem was that he had bought the wrong TV for his room and the way he watched television.
That is why I have a small rule when someone tells me they are buying a new TV: don't show me the TV first. Show me the room.
Where is the sofa? How far away is it? Is there a window opposite the screen? Do you watch cricket at 2pm with the curtains open, or movie...
