New Delhi, Feb. 13 -- India's statistics ministry on Thursday released its first set of inflation data after its long-awaited overhaul of our consumer price index (CPI). With the base year of this price gauge updated to 2024 from 2012, last month's retail inflation turned out to be 2.75%-the reset index having risen by this much over January 2025.

The CPI was rejigged to include contemporary items of consumption for its coverage to offer more accurate readings.
