Mint explainer: how CCPA moved from misleading ads to dark patterns, e-commerce and services
New Delhi, Sept. 7 -- From misleading claims by consumer-goods companies to dark patterns on digital platforms, the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has widened the areas in which it intervenes to protect consumers.
An analysis of 206 orders and judgements listed by the authority since 2021 shows that its enforcement has moved beyond traditional consumer products and advertisements to cover e-commerce, online travel, education and coaching, healthcare, restaurants, mobility, digital platforms, product safety and other services.
