New York News, July 29 -- A gunman who discharged open fired within a Midtown Manhattan skyscraper, which accommodates the National Football League headquarters as well as the offices of several prominent financial institutions-including the hedge fund powerhouse Blackstone-has been "neutralised," according to the New York City Police Commissioner, Jessica S. Tisch.

The building at 345 Park Avenue is home to a range of financial firms such as Blackstone, KPMG, and Deutsche Bank, in addition to the NFL headquarters and the Consulate General of Ireland.

One source said the suspect was seen entering the building armed with a long rifle.
