New Delhi, Oct. 27 -- The Centre is introducing a concessional annual FASTag pass for eligible private vehicle owners living within 20 km of a National Highway toll plaza, allowing them to pay a fixed annual fee for access through the designated plaza instead of paying toll charges on every trip.

The facility will come into effect on November 1, 2026, with annual fees of Rs.1,500 or Rs.3,000, depending on whether the toll plaza falls within or outside municipal or local town limits, according to a post by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) on X.

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways notified the changes on October 26 under the National Highways Fee (Determination of Rates and Collection) (Fifth Amendment) Rules, 2026....
