New Delhi, Aug. 22 -- Maharashtra spent Rs.9,605 crore on 9.2 million ineligible beneficiaries of the state government's flagship scheme - Ladki Bahin Yojana - until June 2026, a Right to Information (RTI) reply to HT revealed.

The RTI data reportedly highlighted the scale of irregular payments under the Ladki Bahin scheme. As per the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Mahayuti government's statement earlier, millions of beneficiaries were removed after the verification process.
