New Delhi, Aug. 7 -- India is set to surpass the US as OpenAI's largest user hub with the rollout of GPT-5, its newest foundational artificial intelligence (AI) model that offers wider acceptability with improved support for 12 Indian languages, chief executive Sam Altman said on Wednesday. The startup expects this growth even as India itself is pursuing homegrown foundational AI models.
"India is our second-largest market in the world after the US, and will be our largest market worldwide soon as it is growing very fast. We're keen on bringing our products to the market with a special focus," Altman told Mint in an interaction on the eve of the company's launch of its next generational jump in technology.
