New Delhi, Aug. 16 -- Team India enjoyed a largely successful day one of the first Test against Sri Lanka in Galle on Saturday, with Devdutt Padikkal (131*) being the standout batter. At stumps on the opening day, India were 288/2 after 73 overs, with Padikkal and Rishabh Pant (27*) being the unbeaten batters.

However, earlier in the day, India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal was involved in a terrible mix-up with KL Rahul. In the 11th over of the innings, Rahul pushed a delivery from spinner Keshara Nuwantha towards mid-on and looked to take a single.
