New Delhi, Aug. 27 -- In a tragic incident, 16-year-old Adam Raine, who had been using ChatGPT to discuss his anxiety, was allegedly guided by the AI tool in ways that his family describes as acting like a "suicide coach".
The grieving family claims that Adam would not have committed suicide "but for ChatGPT". The teenager's family have alleged that the boy shared suicidal thoughts with the chatbot in his final weeks, as per a NBC News report.
Adam, a resident of Rancho Santa Margarita, California, died by suicide earlier this year on 11 April. In the days following his death, his parents spent days reviewing his chat history and discovered disturbing exchanges between him and the AI chatbot.
