New Delhi, July 31 -- Gold prices on MCX opened lower on Thursday after the US Federal Reserve policy decision and President Donald Trump's tariffs on India and other countries.

MCX gold rate opened lower at Rs.98,900 per 10 grams level as against its previous close of Rs.98,983. MCX silver prices also plunged over a percent to open sharply lower at Rs.1,12,108 per kg as compared to previous close of Rs.1,12,864 level.

At 9:05 AM, MCX gold rate was down by Rs.182, or 0.18%, at Rs.98,801 per 10 grams. MCX Silver price was trading lower by Rs.1,414, or 1.25%, at 1,11,270 per kg.
