FIH Women's Hockey World Cup 2026: High-flying Netherlands dent India's semi-final hopes with 2-0 win
New Delhi, Aug. 22 -- India's unbeaten run at the 2026 FIH Women's Hockey World Cup came to an end on Friday after they lost to co-hosts Netherlands 2-0 in their Pool E encounter in Amstelveen. With six points from two matches, the Netherlands thus qualified for the semi-finals.
The Pool E encounter was part of the two teams' second round campaigns at the FIH Women's Hockey World Cup. Netherlands were by far the more clinical side than compared to India after they kept disturbing the Indian defenders at regular intervals.
Yibbi Jansen and Frederique Matla scored a goal apiece from penalty corners as the reigning champions controlled large portions of the contest.
