New Delhi, Aug. 21 -- A chartered plane crashed with eight people onboard in Alaska on Thursday, as per a report by ABC News citing the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

The aircraft, a Cessna 441, took off from Anchorage and was headed towards Cape Newenham when it crashed about 12:15 p.m. local time, the FAA said.

There is no immediate update on the condition of the people who were on board.

Alaska's Governor Mike Dunleavy, in a Facebook post, said that the Alaska National Guard is conducting a search and rescue operation.
