New Delhi, Aug. 22 -- New Delhi: The Centre is planning to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into e-MARG to enable GPS-enabled dashcam footage to replace isolated manual photographs during road inspections, allowing authorities to conduct more comprehensive, video-based surveys, Rohit Kansal, secretary of the rural development ministry, told Mint.

AI would assess road conditions and classify stretches as "good", "fair", or "poor", and these assessments will initially run in parallel with human inspections, with officials retaining oversight to ensure accountability.
