New Delhi, Jan. 21 -- Mark Carney's speech on Tuesday at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos caught global attention, with the Canadian prime minister pointing out the "rupture" of a "rules-based" international order and warning of a "brutal reality" of excesses by unconstrained great powers.
While Carney did not mention US President Donald Trump by name during his speech, it was evident who he was referring to, especially amid tensions over Greenland and Trump's recent comment that he was above international laws.
"I will talk today about the breaking of the world order, the end of a pleasant fiction and the beginning of a brutal reality where the geopolitics of the great powers is not subject to any constraint," Carney said.
