New Delhi, Aug. 24 -- SBI, HDFC, ICICI, PNB and other banks across India remained closed on Sunday. This was because 23 August fell on a weekend. Consequently, physical branch banking services stayed suspended nationwide.

According to the RBI's holiday calendar, banks are closed every Sunday. They are also closed on the 2nd and 4th Saturday every month.

The RBI calendar shows three regional bank holidays occurring between 24 and 30 August. Physical branches will remain closed for up to four days this week. However, banks will operate normally on all other business days.

This coming Saturday, 29 August, banks will actually stay open. That's because it falls on the 5th Saturday of the month. Banks will function for roughly 3-4 days this ...
