Bangladesh rules out Tarique Rahman's India visit for BRICS Summit: Here's what Dhaka claimed
New Delhi, Sept. 11 -- Bangladesh has ruled out the possibility of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman visiting India this weekend for the BRICS Summit. Dhaka claimed that Rahman was not invited to the BRICS Summit and the invitation was instead extended to the BIMSTEC Chair.
The Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation or BIMSTEC is an international regional organisation connecting seven countries in South Asia and Southeast Asia dependent on the Bay of Bengal.
As the current chair of BRICS, India will host the 18th Summit of the the influential grouping, bringing together leaders of member and partner countries as well as outreach invitees.
