New Delhi, Sept. 23 -- NEW DELHI: Avaada Ventures Pvt Ltd, a renewable energy solutions company, has repaid Brookfield Renewable's debt in a deal valued at about Rs.6,713 crore, delivering a two-fold return on the investment, according to two people aware of the development.

The Canadian private equity and asset management company, through its Brookfield Global Transition Fund (BGTF), had committed to invest up to $1 billion in Avaada Group's holding company Avaada Ventures via optionally convertible debentures in 2023.

"Out of the commitment of up to $1 billion, about $400 million was invested by Brookfield," one person said, requesting anonymity and adding that Brookfield did not convert its debentures.
