Alexander Zverev wins US Open final, beats Ben Shelton for second Grand Slam of 2026 in four-set thriller
New Delhi, Sept. 14 -- Alexander Zverev finally finished the job in New York. Six years after he led a US Open final by two sets and lost it, the top seed beat Ben Shelton 6-3, 7-6(2), 5-7, 6-2 on Sunday (September 13) at Arthur Ashe Stadium to win his first Flushing Meadows title and a second Grand Slam of 2026.
The German arrived here as French Open champion and Wimbledon runner-up. He left as a two-Slam man in the same season, the fourth player in the Open era to take his first two majors in one year.
